An incredibly friendly, yet highly professional and top-quality place has opened in Révfülöp. I had already heard about it last year, but unfortunately, I only managed to visit and try it this year. And I don’t shy away from using these adjectives because they truly capture the spirit that Semola Pastfood has brought to Lake Balaton. Honest and high-quality hospitality at its best. Oh, and of course, it’s Italian…
When you hear people chatting in Italian at the corner booth near Móló Cukrászda in Révfülöp, you know you’re in the right place. Yes, Italian – because here, it’s not just the pasta that comes from the country famous for its simple yet globally adored cuisine, but the chef as well. This time, we must make an exception and embrace the occasionally overused phrases like “Hungarian Sea” and “Hungarian Tuscany”…
I’ve always been fascinated and captivated by the mysterious beauty of Lake Balaton, which, in my opinion, truly shines on the northern shore. I can’t quite put my finger on why, but this green gem dotted with witness hills and valleys is one of the most stunning regions in the country. Here, where blue and green unite in a harmony that few artists could depict more eloquently, a sense of spirituality takes hold of you, bringing peace to your soul…
There are no impeccably elegant waiters, fancifully named dishes, or exorbitant prices, yet we feel like we’re dining in a Michelin-starred restaurant. Here, you’ll never find more than ten people at once, the only server is the petite, delicate, and always smiling owner, Klára Tüdős, and the dishes are crafted by a single chef who happens to be Italian. The young couple running the Cselling Udvarház in Révfülöp has one clear goal: to avoid turning their restaurant into a bustling establishment where they would lose what makes them love what they do—the personal touch and the passion.
Klára found her home on the northern shore of Lake Balaton in Révfülöp after living in Békéscsaba, Budapest, and Italy. Her partner, Moreno, started working in a kitchen as a dishwasher during his teenage years and later gained experience in Michelin-starred restaurants across the globe. Now, the two run a guesthouse where the young Italian chef can finally cook to his heart's content—whether it’s his own creations or dishes requested by their guests. Gabriella Nánási visited the Cselling Udvarház to experience it firsthand.
Life is bustling at Lake Balaton in winter: the harbor ice rink has already opened in Balatonlelle, Kishableány welcomes guests with mulled wine and pastries, Mi a Kő invites you to their New Year’s Eve party, and Cselling Udvarház awaits visitors all year round...
One of this summer’s greatest discoveries is a guesthouse in Révfülöp, where the small kitchen produces dishes in the evenings that rival those of renowned restaurants in the capital…
